The Infrastructure Decade in South Carolina

Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, South Carolina will benefit from $4.8 billion in infrastructure investments. Sample projects include:

  • $357 million for Carolina Crossroads aka “Malfunction Junction”
  • $26 million for Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority Bus Project
  • $23 million for Orangeburg Railroad Corner
  • $61.7 million for clean school buses
  • $79 million for airport improvements

 

Thanks to Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan, nearly $1.4 billion for 216 projects all over SC have been invested specifically for water and wastewater projects.  For example:

  • $4.9 million for wastewater and collection system upgrades in the Town of Allendale
  • $24 million for water and wastewater system improvements for the Beaufort Jasper Sewer Authority
  • $10 million for the Central Berkeley Wastewater Treatment Plant Project in Berkeley County
  • $10 million for a water improvement project in Clarendon County
  • $4.4 million for wastewater system improvements in the City of Denmark
  • $8.4 million for wastewater improvements in the City of Lake City
  • $12.1 million for water and sewer infrastructure improvements in the Town of Summerton
  • $10 million for sewer improvements in the City of Walterboro

Accessible and Affordable Internet for All

  • Due in large part to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and notably the American Rescue Plan, South Carolina has received $1.1 billion  to ensure every home and business is connected to high-speed internet by 2026.

  • Thanks to the Affordable Connectivity Program, nearly 420,000 South Carolinians save $30-$75 per month on their internet bill.
